Oso is run by a teaching pro and a pickleball retailer. We didn't find the Fury in a catalogue — we were already using it.
Baseline · Who We Are
That's not a figure of speech. Two guys down the street built a genuinely good ball and got it onto the USA Pickleball approved list. Then they hit the thing that stops most small brands — full-time careers, and no hours left for the rest of it.
Long before any of this was a business decision, Cory was just buying the ball. Using it in lessons. Putting it out at charity events. Running it at tournaments. It was the ball he handed his own students.
When the neighbors decided they couldn't give it the time it needed, we bought it. We both came out of tennis, and we both ended up here.
Cory teaches pickleball for a living. Three years as a Pickleball Professional, after decades in tennis and a term on the USTA Board. Before that he was building products, most recently at CaddyO. Teaching every level, every week, is how you find out which equipment claims hold up on a court.
Ronnie has spent ten years in the pickleball business — clubs, manufacturing, retail — after coming up through tennis. Most of it on the road. He knows what sells, what comes back, and what players complain about, because he's been on the other side of the counter for a decade.
Between us that's both ends of the sport:
the court and the counter.
Centerline · What Didn't Change
We didn't reformulate anything. The Fury is the same ball, to the same approved spec, that Cory was already handing out at tournaments before he owned the company. Same USA Pickleball listing. Same ball the independent test measured.
What changed is that it now has two people whose actual job is this.
The ranking is awarded to Oso at brand level. The published test does not name a model.
We're not trying to become a catalogue. One ball, made properly, priced fairly, with someone on the other end of the email. If we add something later it'll be because players asked for it.
